Use this guide below to identify your Xbox 360 Slim DVD Drive - LiteON 9504, 0225, 0401, 1071 & Hitachi 0500 DLN10N

Using the DVD Drive Tray to identify if you have a LiteON or Hitachi DVD Drive in your Xbox 360 Slim:
Remember - there has been no progress confirmed for Hitachi drives unfortunately - but these drives are very rare!

Now if you've identified an Hitachi drive (as on the left drive tray image) then you're shit out of luck @ the moment - little (if any) progress has been made on the hacking of these drives. They appear to be pretty rare, so this is probably the main reason!

The LiteON drive is an altogether different ball game. We have the LiteON 9504 drive found in consoles manufactured before 01/08/2010 (and these were changed to 0272 firmware in the May dashboard update). After that we have the "locked" LiteON 0225 drive - and then latterly the 0401 - all locked to writing any custom or upgrade firmware to.

There is a write solution though - the Team Xecuter custom PCB board, or replacement MT chip. This allows firmware to be written to the drives, and also comes with a write enable/disable solution too - so you can lock the drive back up - as Microsoft has done!
